Conscientiousness concerns the way in which we control, regulate, and direct our impulses. Impulses are not inherently bad; occasionally time constraints require a snap decision, and acting on our first impulse can be an effective response. Also, in times of play rather than work, acting spontaneously and impulsively can be fun. Impulsive individuals can be seen by others as colorful, fun-to-be-with, and zany.
Nonetheless, acting on impulse can lead to trouble in a number of ways. Some impulses are antisocial. Uncontrolled antisocial acts not only harm other members of society, but also can result in retribution toward the perpetrator of such impulsive acts. Another problem with impulsive acts is that they often produce immediate rewards but undesirable, long-term consequences. Examples include excessive socializing that leads to being fired from one's job, hurling an insult that causes the breakup of an important relationship, or using pleasure-inducing drugs that eventually destroy one's health.
Impulsive behavior, even when not seriously destructive, diminishes a person's effectiveness in significant ways. Acting impulsively disallows contemplating alternative courses of action, some of which would have been wiser than the impulsive choice. Impulsivity also sidetracks people during projects that require organized sequences of steps or stages. Accomplishments of an impulsive person are therefore small, scattered, and inconsistent.
A hallmark of intelligence, what potentially separates human beings from earlier life forms, is the ability to think about future consequences before acting on an impulse. Intelligent activity involves contemplation of long-range goals, organizing and planning routes to these goals, and persisting toward one's goals in the face of short-lived impulses to the contrary. The idea that intelligence involves impulse control is nicely captured by the term prudence, an alternative label for the Conscientiousness domain. Prudent means both wise and cautious. Persons who score high on the Conscientiousness scale are, in fact, perceived by others as intelligent.
The benefits of high conscientiousness are obvious. Conscientious individuals avoid trouble and achieve high levels of success through purposeful planning and persistence. They are also positively regarded by others as intelligent and reliable. On the negative side, they can be compulsive perfectionists and workaholics. Furthermore, extremely conscientious individuals might be regarded as stuffy and boring. Unconscientious people may be criticized for their unreliability, lack of ambition, and failure to stay within the lines, but they will experience many short-lived pleasures and they will never be called stuffy.

Extraversion is marked by pronounced engagement with the external world. Extraverts enjoy being with people, are full of energy, and often experience positive emotions. Conscientiousness

Conscientiousness concerns the way in which we control, regulate, and direct our impulses. Also, in times of play rather than work, acting spontaneously and impulsively can be fun. Impulsive individuals can be seen by others as colorful, fun-to-be-with, and zany.
Nonetheless, acting on impulse can lead to trouble in a number of ways. Some impulses are antisocial. Uncontrolled antisocial acts not only harm other members of society, but also can result in retribution toward the perpetrator of such impulsive acts. Another problem with impulsive acts is that they often produce immediate rewards but undesirable, long-term consequences. Examples include excessive socializing that leads to being fired from one's job, hurling an insult that causes the breakup of an important relationship, or using pleasure-inducing drugs that eventually destroy one's health.
Impulsive behavior, even when not seriously destructive, diminishes a person's effectiveness in significant ways. Acting impulsively disallows contemplating alternative courses of action, some of which would have been wiser than the impulsive choice. Impulsivity also sidetracks people during projects that require organized sequences of steps or stages. Accomplishments of an impulsive person are therefore small, scattered, and inconsistent.
A hallmark of intelligence, what potentially separates human beings from earlier life forms, is the ability to think about future consequences before acting on an impulse. Intelligent activity involves contemplation of long-range goals, organizing and planning routes to these goals, and persisting toward one's goals in the face of short-lived impulses to the contrary. The idea that intelligence involves impulse control is nicely captured by the term prudence, an alternative label for the Conscientiousness domain. Prudent means both wise and cautious. Persons who score high on the Conscientiousness scale are, in fact, perceived by others as intelligent.
The benefits of high conscientiousness are obvious. Conscientious individuals avoid trouble and achieve high levels of success through purposeful planning and persistence. They are also positively regarded by others as intelligent and reliable. On the negative side, they can be compulsive perfectionists and workaholics. Furthermore, extremely conscientious individuals might be regarded as stuffy and boring. Unconscientious people may be criticized for their unreliability, lack of ambition, and failure to stay within the lines, but they will experience many short-lived pleasures and they will never be called stuffy.

Neuroticism

Freud originally used the term neurosis to describe a condition marked by mental distress, emotional suffering, and an inability to cope effectively with the normal demands of life. He suggested that everyone shows some signs of neurosis, but that we differ in our degree of suffering and our specific symptoms of distress. Today neuroticism refers to the tendency to experience negative feelings. Those who score high on Neuroticism may experience primarily one specific negative feeling such as anxiety, anger, or depression, but are likely to experience several of these emotions. People high in neuroticism are emotionally reactive. They respond emotionally to events that would not affect most people, and their reactions tend to be more intense than normal. They are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. Their negative emotional reactions tend to persist for unusually long periods of time, which means they are often in a bad mood. These problems in emotional regulation can diminish a neurotic's ability to think clearly, make decisions, and cope effectively with stress.
At the other end of the scale, individuals who score low in neuroticism are less easily upset and are less emotionally reactive. They tend to be calm, emotionally stable, and free from persistent negative feelings. Freedom from negative feelings does not mean that low scorers experience a lot of positive feelings; frequency of positive emotions is a component of the Extraversion domain.

Conscientiousness

Well I'm back from crystals. It wasn't unfun (I love double negatives), outside of the sleeping part and stuff. It was pretty monotonous, but at least I can say I got out of the house.

We turned the lights off at 12:30 and I fell asleep at 5:30. This was slightly because of the hot effing weather andddddd... the fact that crystal talks in her sleep, heh. But no, I wouldn't have fallen asleep any sooner at home, so yeah.

Back now, and I really really really NNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDD to borrow someone's 6th- and 9th- grade yearbooks, JUST for a night. There are some things I NEED to look at. Bad. Before I go fucking nuts and do things I shouldn't that obsessive compulsive people tend to do.

Ive concluded that I don't like to spend the night at friends' houses because:

a) the anxiety and fear of boredom,
b) the fact I can't sleep,
c) the pressure to eat,

and most importantly,

d) the fact that it interrupts my schedule that I already have planned and I'm not about to shift it to do something that I wouldn't enjoy as much as sitting at home by myself. So there.

Agh, Ive got some blister shit on the inside of my eyelid and it hurts. Mom said it might turn into a stye- what FUNNNNNNN!!!!!!!+++++++______. Anyways I tyhink I might go out with Kate and Catherine tomorrow to run some errands, and they'll want to stop at baskin robbins to get some shit... and to try and make me talk to brandon. I don't know. BLeh. Im trying to move on, kind of. Mostly because I think nothing is going.. to.. happen!

On a happier, lighter note, I can't wait to go to Tahoe and see Katie and Kelly! That's going to rock. They are the greatest in the world.

For a while I thought I was looking forward to going back to school, but now I know Im not. I remember all the anxiety and stress it brought and I don't want to go through that again.

My parents just got home so I'll cut it short now. ya.

Okay well, I was feeling pretty depressed so catherine insisted that her and kate drive by... and so they did, and I went out there in my pajamas... and then they said that they were going to go get a shake and asked if I wanted to come... they said they were going to Baskin Robbins so I said okay :D.
Soooooo we get to Baskin Robbins and catherine goes in to get them while kate and I stayed in the car. kate and I talked about shit like.... we're gonna get our nails done together and how we didn't like the girls in the car next to us and how my PAJAMAS WERE CUTERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!**+++ and so, yeah. We're waiting for catherine to come out, and we're like, wtf is taking her so long? So I hop in the front and kate and I pretend like we're driving away and catherine starts like, heh yeah. Kate pulls over to the side and she's like 'NOW you can see brandon fully from here!!' and I was like, 'yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy haaaha... and then catherine finally comes out after like 20 minutes goin' off about brandon and how he made the shakes, aha it was great. she said he spilt one or some shit like that, I dont know. But his hair got long, and he was wearin like a baseball cap, it was cute.

Then we were off to albertsons to pick up catfood, tampons, and a candy bar for catherine's mom and like... kate kept getting this shit all over her teeth from the shake... and I guess it was on her cup too 'cause she got it on her pants by the crotch... and so she set it down and went into the bathroom to try and get it off (she had just gotten those pants today) and catherine and I were looking at the cat food and she's like:

c: "I love the ones where you can win $100,000 on."

m: "ha yeah, me tewwwWW!'

c: "But one of my kitties is allergic to fish."

hahaaa, it was great. She later clarified that her cat isn't ALLERGIC to it, she just won't eat it. Haha, ohwell. And then she starts tellin' me how she got bored because everyone she knows can tune out her voice and ignore her, so she started swinging on this rope down by Liz's house and they're like, "is that how you got your name Cat?a ahaha..." and catherine's like, "...no guys, WHATS my name?" and they're like, "who's y0 daddy?" and she went off on how retarded stoners are, heh.

then kate comes back out, and it totally looked like she pissed her pants, heh. ahwell, it was fun. That was the basic gist of it, and it did bring up my mood for a little while.

9:52 am - stupid good bad fun boring shit stuff
Hmm, okay. So yesterday, I thought my life was looking up a bit and I actually had fun for once. But as the night grew longer, I realized it was the same. I tried to go to sleep at 1 since I had to wake up at 7 to go to registration, but I ended up just crying from 1 til 5. It's weird. Sometimes I cry because I always get depressing thoughts, or contemplate existance, or get flashbacks I can't control. This time it was mostly the last night I saw Katie and Kelly before they moved when I was 8. I remember that day vividly. And i also thought about Kate and Catherine and other people from school. I Also spent about an hour just staring numbly at my blinds. My eyes hurt like fuck, and I couldn't breathe through my nose, but that happens just about every night I'm like that.

SO I eventually fall asleep around 5, and then wake up a little before 7. I get ready to go (and my dad is a complete effing asshole in the morning, btw) andddddd then I get there, wait for Crystal to show up, and then she doe and we go into our line. Then after a 1/2 hour or so of waiting in line, I get to the front to find out my mom didn't sign the BACK OF THE MOST FUCKING IMPORTANT PAPER@@)(#$*#)$@##+++++#@. So yeah, I basically can't do shit while I'm there, so I wait for Crystal and Jill (which took about 15-20 minutes, and I stood there looking like a COMPELTE LONER AND DUMBSHIT). Oh well. I eventually find them again (they ended up going out some other door) and then Crystal sees Buddy and has to go all fucking, all over him and Jill says Buddy is her bitch and then.. I just kinda stand there, not wanting to hear ANY OF IT.. but he said he needed someone to share a locker with. I woujld have volunteered (since kathleen effing wants to share with me and crystal anyway) but I realized this probably wouldn't be too good on me mentally. I need to move on from that shit ... I mean, I have, but... yeah. Then they go to get their books and our lockers... ours is in the fucking senior quad!! how cool is that? that was the only good thing about the time there. then after we find out our locker number I dropped all my fucking papers and people start laughing.. doesnt that make me feel gooodoodododoooDDDDDDDDD?!!//////!!@#$$$$.

okay. an hour and a half passes by the time i get home... and getting out of crystal's car I fucking scrapped up my leg and it stings like hell right now. but then I call my mom to complain and she's all fucking CALM... I want to kill her and rip her heart out right now, not that she gives a shit. It's her fault. She tells me it was 'a mistake and Ill take you there later.' I told her I wsnt going back there because I cant stand all the anxiety of being around people and she says that I need to weigh my options (like, wtf options are there?) I said SHE was the one who screwed up so she should do it, but she wont. Frankly, it doesnt concern her so she doesn't give a shit.

oh well. Im here now, my eyes stinging like all hell from crying so much and not getting much sleep at all. I feel dead and lifeless, but that's normal for me. Oh well. Maybe someday all the pain inside of me will pass. Hopefully soon...

..but I doubt it. Until then, I will sit here, existing, typing up things that not one person gives a shit about. Oh well. Farewell.

Right now I'm pretty tired and exhausted. Probably from crying again, I don't know. Crystal called around 6:10 and asked me if tonight when I spend the nigt if I wanted to go miniature golfing with her, kathleen, and jill, but, blah. I started crying (actually I was crying before) and told her what was going on and stuff (I found out today that my dad cheated on my mom) and we decided it would be better if I spent the night tomorrow. This allows her to go miniature golfing tonight anyway.

Had counseling today, we talked about Kate a bit and I got kinda choked up, but I still didn't want to cry in public so I didn't. Not that it was blatently obvious I was trying not to cry.

So for the most part, I'm still hating guys. Except Bosco, Brandon, Josh and Seth I think. Yeah, like, I don't know. I kind of want to go out with Brandon. Actually, I DO want to go out with him, but I still have so many issues with someone else that I need to work through... I woujld feel kinda guilty or something. I'll explain my feelings on [nameless] as this:

It feels that I fell in love with this person greatly, and devoted basically my life to 'em, and then they DIED. That's how I feel. And I feel like Im still mourning the 'death', and I'm interested in someone else (Brandon), but feel guilty liking him because it feels like Im cheating the other person. Did that make sense?

My kitty was just pouncing at the mouse on the screen, and that made me somewhat less unhappy.

Im going to draw more tonight and probably read parts of the book of id again. I love that thing. It's really inspiring for my art too. And it's got a picture of a noose in it! Which is ironic, because I was trying to draw one the day before.

I really want to write, I just don't know what about. Im in trouble for kicking in the screen door, but if that bitch(my mom) thinks I'm going to pay for it she's effing crazy. I kicked it in in spite of her ignorance and stupidity. sheesh.
So today, I played some DOOM to manage my stress and anger and it sort of worked.


I really miss my friends from Tahoe. Even though they are so far awsay now, and I'm probably just an 'acquaintance' to them now, I still consider them my best friends. It's sad, yes, but I guess they're like, the only people I haven't gotten screwed over by in my life (well, they DID move 2349082340923842093 miles away, but they couldn't help it.) And even though we're so different, I still love them to death. They come from a rich, Christian household, and I'm.. well, you know me. If you're reading this you've got to have some idea. But... they're great.

I'm hoping that soon I will overcome my issues with men. Well, maybe I hope I don't. I'm not too sure. Right now it's about one guy that is keeping me interested in the opposite sex. And as soon as these feelings pass, I'll probably not want to be with anyone at all. Blah.

Right now I am quite sad and depressed and angry at once. I think the main reason I feel this way is because the internet disconnect me while I was talking to Brandon- who is the only guy I've had remotely significant feelings for in the past 2 years- and then he was gone. Oh well. But I still think I'm going to try and get over him, because, bleh. I know he won't go out with me and I feel like I'm wasting time.

On a happier, lighter note, I received my 'book of id' in the mail today. The people at id were very twisted and demented. Yet they reminded me of me kind of. Very creative, and I respect them in high regards. The art in the book is magnificent too. I recommend you all head your ass over to www.idsoftware.com and get the id anthology.
And tonight I'll probably draw a lot since I am inspired by the book.

Hmm, I'm not exactly sure what to write. I feel like my journal is pretty useless... I don't think (m)any people read it, and since that's the case, I'm probably better keeping a private journal where I can talk about other things/people.

I still feel like crying and I don't know why, it's weird. I'm hoping that it's 'cause I'm getting overly emotional and start my period soon. but I'm not sure.

I need to meet some cool people, yeah.
